Masi Magam is celebrated on Magam Nakshatra day in Masi month. The festival generally falls on Pournami or Full Moon day. Masi month is the favorite month for Lord Shiva '

Millions of devotees visit the temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Muruga, Lord Vishnu and Goddess Durga on Masi Makam day and perform special pujas to please the deities. Special pujas and Abhisheka are held in Kumbakonam Natarajar temple, Palani Murugan temple.
